Description
A Southern toad burrows into the sandy ground. A great toad to have around! Not to be confused with the Cane toad (aka, bufo, bufo marinus, marine toad, giant toad, rhinella marina), which has poisonous paratoid glands. The Southern toad is harmless. Identifying features are smaller, higher set paratoid glands and two knobby ridges on the top of its head between the eyes. There is no need to harm these toads.

Nice photo! Toads are so interesting. I'm always happy to find one (and it is a rare event for me). Thanks for the information and I especially like your last sentence.

Thank you, Doris. Heck, I won't even hurt the poisonous ones, I just relocate them far away from my pets :)
